The clinical research and teaching of integrating Chinese and Western medicine have been going on for more than 50 years. He graduated from the Medical Department of Peking University Medical School in his early years. He has worked as a cardiologist in Tianjin First Central Hospital and an attending physician in the Department of Cardiology at Beijing China-Japan Friendship Hospital. He has been a visiting researcher in the Department of Internal Medicine and Pharmacology of Aichi Medical University in Japan and a special researcher at the Cardiopulmonary Research Center of the University of Utah. Since 1994, he has been engaged in clinical work of traditional Chinese medicine at Changshoutang Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic in Vancouver, Canada.
In China, he participated in acupuncture anesthesia research in several national collaborative groups in the 1970s, and in 1979 he participated in the review of papers for the First World Symposium on Acupuncture and Acupuncture Anesthesia in Beijing.
In Canada, he participated in the establishment of and taught at the Canadian Chinese College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, promoted and participated in the legislation of Chinese medicine and acupuncture in British Columbia, presided over the registration examinations for Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists in British Columbia and Canada for many years, participated in the hosting of the Chinese and Western Cancer Symposium and edited the symposium proceedings, and participated in the popularization of Chinese and Western medicine education for many years at the British Columbia Heart and Stroke Foundation, the China Bridge Mutual Aid Association, the Cancer Foundation and Tzu Chi volunteers. He has published many Chinese and Western medicine research papers in China and overseas.
