Treatment of Menstrual Headache with Acupuncture Based on Stages and Syndrome Differentiation using the Method of Regulating the Chong and Soothing the Liver

The "Regulating the Chong Meridian and Soothing the Liver" method of acupuncture treatment for menstrual headaches is based on the cyclical nature of the condition. During an attack of pain, liver qi stagnation and obstruction of the meridians are the primary causes. Treatment focuses on relieving the symptoms, primarily through "soothing the liver" to regulate qi, unblock the meridians, and alleviate immediate pain. During the remission period, the Chong meridian is imbalanced. Treatment focuses on regulating the Chong meridian to regulate blood circulation, preventing recurrence of pain and achieving a comprehensive cure. This approach leverages the immediate analgesic effect of acupuncture while simultaneously addressing the root cause and preventing recurrence through regulating the Chong meridian during remission.
