Abstract

Motion acupuncture therapy is a type of acupuncture therapy created by Dr. Chen Decheng that incorporates the principles of “motion” and “muscle and tendon” (jingjin). “Motion” includes both active and passive movements, as well as weight-bearing exercises, while “muscle and tendon” refers to the muscle and fascia. This therapy combines traditional acupuncture methods with modern theories of muscle anatomy and fascia to form a new type of acupuncture therapy. In 2022, Dr. Chen Decheng published the book “Motion Acupuncture Therapy,” which was well received by industry experts and doctors.

Motion acupuncture therapy consists of four main components: motion acupuncture points, motion acupuncture needles, motion acupuncture techniques, and dynamic retaining needles. Motion acupuncture points refer to the specific acupuncture points and precise methods of locating treatment points. Motion acupuncture needles are a type of patented acupuncture needle with a spiral and angular design that differs from traditional needles. Motion acupuncture techniques refer to the unique needling techniques of this therapy, with the prominent technique being the lifting and thrusting of the needle, including limited and extreme lifts. Dynamic retaining needles refer to the post-needling movements of the patient, also known as “dynamic needle retention.” These four aspects are the highlights of motion acupuncture therapy.

Motion acupuncture therapy is primarily used to treat various types of pain caused by soft tissue injuries, as well as many visceral diseases caused by tense fascia and soft tissues, such as gastrointestinal disorders, urinary and reproductive system diseases, and more. The therapy’s characteristics include precise treatment, rapid clinical effects, stable and lasting efficacy, and low likelihood of recurrence.
